Plein Air Painting is a very important part of my process. It allows me to collect what I see and feel while hiking through the landscape. It is a way for me to filter out what I am interested in the landscape and focus on distilling down to the core. I bring back these initial watercolor studies into the studio and then either complete them using ink line work and more watercolor layers, or I use them to jump start a larger painting.
