This painting is 1 of 2 paintings started on a hike to Delicate Arch in Arches National Park, Utah. The landscape is especially inspiring because of the way the land was formed. Sandstone in this region was formed by deposits of sediments and eroded by receding water. The slow repetitive process accumulates into great change over time. This is a technique I bring into my work. Layer after layer, line after line, dot after dot, it is a repetitive process that becomes something greater. It is a way for me to meditate on the value of these places.
