This piece was made while on a visit back to my first home. The big blue waters of Lake Michigan bring me calm. I often make the concious choice not to paint there because of how calming the waves are. This moment caught me. The legends surrounding Sleeping Bear Dunes told by The Anishinaabek, often known as Ojibwe or Chippewa, would always inspire me to see the land in motion. In this piece I imagined all the dunes moving through the water doing their dance as the sun went down.
